Engine Mapping
One of the services we offer is ECU remapping, also known as "chip tuning".
ECU remapping significantly increases the efficiency of the engine giving your car increased power, torque and fuel economy. By altering the engine management system we can increase drivability with no detriment to reliability. We use only the top industry leading hardware and software for maximum compatibility and reliability.
Even though most modern engine management systems come uniquely programmed for each vehicle, it's mostly with things like ignition transponder codes, radio security codes etc.
Even without needing a rolling road session we can fit a more aggressive map for instant increased torque and drivability without falling foul of your CO2 allowance.
The effect is similar to how running a slightly richer mixture and slighty more aggressive ignition timing could transform the drivability of a mk2 golf with little detriment to its cruising mpg.
Reversible process
Before we make any changes to your ecu we back up the original and you can revert back to the original map anytime free of charge so you won't invalidate your manufacturers warranty.
With mapping we're not limited to just VAG vehicles, we can remap most petrol and diesel engines found in modern vehicles including vans, small trucks and even boat ECUs.
Before any tuning begins we will give the vehicle a full diagnostic scan to ensure everything is at its optimal before we increase the performance and power output of your car.
Also, before any changes are made to the ECU software we make a backup copy of your original ECU settings, allowing the ECU to be reverted back to standard at anytime, free of charge.
Prices for remapping range from £195 to £320.
The price of your remap will depend on a couple of things. The main thing is the ecu type and how complex it is to reprogram, as well as the security features which need to be accomodated (e.g. immobiliser and radio codes).

Diesel Engines
Most modern diesel engines will benefit greatly by remapping the ecu. Torque and horsepower increase by as much as 40% in some TDI engines as well as improved fuel economy with no increase in exhaust emissions.
